"Junebration" on June 29 at MLK Jr. Memorial Park features Kia Rice (Virtuous), Jewel Ward, and Alyeh Cady. Attendees should bring chairs. JT Williams, a young artist, will showcase his work.

    HENDERSONVILLE - The Black History Collective of Henderson County announced on Feb. 21 that its Feb. 25 Black History Month Program will be dedicated to the memory of Elyja Gibbs, a Hendersonville High junior multi-sport standout who was killed in an automobile crash on February 9.

    HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — June 19 marks Freedom Day in the U.S., also known as Juneteenth. One week before, on June 12, the Black History Collective of Henderson County hosted an event in celebration. The event showcased music, African dance, drumming and African art, as well as speakers and spoken word poetry. The focus -- to commemorate not only a historic day, but Black culture and roots.
