Juneteenth Freedom 2022: No Crystal Stair

Jewel Ward performed at Juneteenth Freedom 2022: No Crystal Stair in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on June 11, 2022. Held in Kaplan Auditorium at the Henderson County Public Library, the program celebrated Black women through music, dance, spoken word, poetry, and storytelling.

Jewel performed “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Gotta Be” as part of an ensemble of speakers and performers.

Other participants included Tynesha Carden, Diana Casteel, Indian Jackson, Donnie Black, Crystal Cauley, the Carolina Diva Diamondz, Jenna Jaffe, Deborah Shelton-Ogiste, Linda Smith, and Tony Robles.

The June event followed the ensemble’s first presentation of No Crystal Stair in May 2022 and continued the program’s celebration of Black women’s strength, history, and experiences.
